elinor peace bailey

   

(Elinor Peace Bailey)

elinor peace bailey received her art education through Parson’s School of Design, Tyler School of Fine Arts, and Brigham Young University. She has written Mother Plays With Dolls, The Rag Doll From Plain to Fancy, and recently, Two Doll Makers Meet In The Middle, published by Krause. elinor has self-published 65 doll patterns and 7 books which cover doll making from the simple to the complex. elinor is a writer of not truely bad poetry, and she sings with great energy. She presently is experimenting with journaling and altered books, in addition to creating art to wear, which she shows off by wearing herself. She has enjoyed great kindness from her friends and audiences wherever she has gone and there fore, she plans to continue.


Susan Cleveland

Susan’s enthusiasm for quilting is said to be contagious! Students enjoy her upbeat attitude, well-written instructions, and one-on-one attention included in every workshop. Her quilts have been shown in international-level competitions since 1997 and have received many awards. Judges comment on her fine workmanship and appreciate her original style. She bases her designs on traditional patterns then adds specialty threads, prairie points, piping, and great binding techniques. Susan is inventor of the Groovin’ Piping Trimming Tool which is used to trim piping seam allowances and is passionate about sharing quilts and teaching her techniques!

She lives on 70 acres in southeastern Minnesota with her husband, son, daughter, 2 dogs, and several cats.


Mickey Depre

Mickey was introduced to the world of Fiber Arts by her own personal “grand masters” at the age of four. Grandmothers, Great Aunts, Aunts and her Mother filled her days with cloth, needles, yarns and such. Textiles have always fascinated her from vintage to current and her taste has always been ALL! Mickey enjoys sharing her love of fiber thru lectures and workshops. Her workshops mix technique instruction with individual creativity and always a giggle or two.


Gail Garber

Gail took her first quilting class in 1980. A long-time sewer and crafter, friends challenged her to try a new media. By the mid 1980’s, Gail began to explore hand-appliqué, and became known for her unique Southwestern pictorial quilts. She created a series of quilts in this style between 1984 and 1992, when, once again, she was drawn to geometric star designs. Many of her geometric star quilts and pictorial quilts have won awards at shows throughout the US and have also been featured in publications throughout the world. She is working on the manuscript for a new book with a tentative publication date of 2010. The focus of this art-oriented quilting book is an exploration the myriad of designs that can be created using variations of the flying goose block.


Jan Krentz

Jan is a nationally recognized quilt instructor, author and designer. Winner of the 1998 Teacher of the Year award, Jan’s motivating workshops are packed with practical tips, techniques and methods to insure success. She is the author of Lone Star Quilts & Beyond, Hunter Star Quilts & Beyond and Diamond Quilts and Beyond. Jan lives with her husband in Poway, California.


Suzanne Marshall

Suzanne taught herself to quilt from a library book about 25 years ago because her four children needed covers on their beds. Suzanne still has not taken any quilting classes and is now amazed that she finds herself teaching and lecturing all over the country. Suzanne’s quilts have won numerous awards including;One of the Twentieth Century’s 100 Best American Quilts, Best of Show at many shows across the country. She was selected to be included in the “30 Distinguished Quilt Artists of the World Exhibit” in Tokyo, Japan in 2003. Suzanne’s first book, Take-Away Appliqué, was published by the American Quilter’s Society in the Spring of 1998 and Adventure & Appliqué was published February 2008 by the AQS.


Anita Shackelford

Anita Shackelford has been a quiltmaker since 1967 and began teaching in 1980. She is an internationally recognized teacher and lecturer who loves combining appliqué and fine hand quilting to create new quilts in 19th century style. She also enjoys using her sewing machine for many parts of the creative process and has recently added longarm quilting to the mix.


Edyta Sitar

Edyta Sitar is the successful designer and owner of Laundry Basket Quilts line of patterns. The first person to inspire her in quilting was Anna Sitar, her husband’s grandmother. Edyta says “Every time I begin a new quilt, it is normally because of a person or event that has inspired me. Sometimes it can be for a loved one in need, birth of a child, a thank you or simply a tribute to a natural beauty that I have experienced, such as a lovely sunset.”
