#101 Frieda Anderson Sundance

Raw-edge fusing makes this Sunflower pattern fun and easy and you’ll learn new techniques to make it fast.  Frieda’s fabric kit takes the worry out of fabric selection, and she will show you machine quilting tricks to complete this colorful wallhanging at home.  Fabric kit $ 30 - optional.

#102 Jan Krentz Colorwash Hunter Star

Using a new product designed especially for Jan’s Hunter Star, learn the technique of composing a scene on a fusible foundation that will sew up into a 15” x 15” finished panel.  Workshop focus: fabric selection & placement for the artistic design, construction technique and quilting recommendations.  The fusible foundation is included in the class kit.  Additional foundation may be purchased from Jan  Kit fee extra.

#103 Bonnie Lyn McCaffery Floral Sampler Workshop

Sample a few techniques from Bonnie’s Fantasy Floral Quilts book.  You will capture silk flowers under a sheer layer of tulle.  You will also discuss a variety of ways to embellish the flower centers.  You will be amazed at how quickly these blocks can be made and how beautiful they are.

Reminiscent of an early 19th century chintz stripy quilt, come prepared to step back in time to stitch this re-creation.  Fabric selections discussed, neat piecing technique and pressing tips given.  Use one of the popular large florals or pillar prints available today to re-create this beautiful quilt, or consider a patriotic version.

#105 Sue Nickels Machine Stipple Quilting & Much More

In this all day workshop, free motion quilting will be explored for background areas on your quilt and for overall surface designs.  Traditional stipple quilting will be covered as well as many fun alternatives.  Some of the variations include: loopy meandering, psychedelic stippling and curvy crosshatching.  Students will make a small stipple sampler to showcase these techniques.  If you are looking for ways to make your machine quilting different from the crowd, this will inspire you.

#108 Carol Taylor Thread Painting

Have you ever wanted to add more thread to create depth but don’t have one of those expensive embroidery machines to do it?  Then this is the class for you.  You will create your own threadpainted pansy using a free motion zigzag method.  It’s easy and anyone who can lower their feed dogs can do it.  Every design uses only the zigzag stitch.  It’s like coloring with crayons, except you use threads, and you’ll learn to make solid areas and to blend the colors to make realistic looking pansies or fish.  Carol will show you how to take these pieces and add them to your quilts to make your quilts something very special and unique.  You’ll also learn bobbin drawing, how to make lacy and confetti centers and how to use couching with these designs.

Skill level: Confident Beginner & Up
