Entry #1005 “Illuminations” Carol Taylor Pittsford, NY

"Illuminations" by Carol Taylor

Part of The Confetti Series.  This quilt began by making block-like formations using the irregular small confetti pieces guided by value choices.  Formatting them into a larger piece by intermixing the colors to connect the blocks was more of a challenge.  The result when viewed from afar reminds me of those “Brite-Light” boards my children played with when they were young because the appliquéd confetti pieces just illuminated the larger structure.  Each block is then quilted in concentric circles that overlap making a complex design of their own.

Entry #1003 “Arms of Love” Rachel Wetzler St. Charles, IL

"Arms of Love" by Rachel Wetzler

Inspired by “The Passion of the Christ”.  Styled as a Coat of Arms.  The shield focuses on the passion.  Other symbols represent Christ’s names, like Vine, Anchor, Lion.  Christ’s monogram hangs from a collar depicting 12 disciples as gold roundels (except Judas as a silver coin—his means of betrayal).
