Miniature, Second Place

Prize Awarded - $200

Entry #1102 “Freedom Stars” Pat Kuhns Lincoln, NE

"Freedom Stars" by Pat Kuhns

I found this Feathered Star foundation-pieced pattern in “Miniature Quilts” magazine.  The finished star is 3 ¾ inches.  The design and setting are a miniature version of a Marsha McCloskey quilt.  I added the tiny piping to add sparkle to the border.

Source of Design:  Quilt design and setting from Marsha McCloskey “Feathered Star Quilts” book.  Foundation-pieced feathered star pattern from “Miniature Quilts” magazine.

Made and Quilted By:  Pat Kuhns.

Entry #1107 “Magic Carpet Ride” Roslyn DeBoer Orland Park, IL

"Magic Carpet Ride" by Roslyn DeBoer

I have always loved free-motion quilting and somewhere along the line I got bitten by the beading bug.  This combination of heavy thread work and 2,840 beads made “Magic Carpet Ride” especially rewarding to make.

Source of Design:  Original.
