Entry #302 “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewindered” V. Wayne Sneath Northfield, IL

“Bewitched, Bothered and Bewindered” by V. Wayne Sneath

This sampler quilt was a challenge to my piecing capabilities.  It was derived from the pattern book, “Nearly Insane”, by Liz Lois of Salem, WI.  It is a replica of a quilt made by Salinda W. Rupp of Lancaster County, PA., (C. 1870) and is composed of 98 6-inch blocks that differ in design and construction.  One block has 229 pieces and the quilt has a total of 5,548 pieces.

Source of Design:  Pattern book:  “Nearly Insane” by Liz Lois.

Made By:  V. Wayne Sneath.

Quilted By:  Jim Sherburne.

Entry #303 “To Capture The Fall II” Brenda S. Roach Bloomfield, IN

"To Capture The Fall II" by Brenda S. Roach

After admiring this template-based design for twenty years, I created a paper-pieced pattern and took off!  I added the yellow piping to the design.

Pieced Amateur - Honorable Mention

Entry #318 “Chercher le Diamante” Donna J. Cook Chicago, IL

"Chercher le Diamante" by Donna J. Cook

This piece was inspired by the geometrical art of Hajime Ouchi.  I’ve chosen to use monofilament thread on the quilt top, with black thread from the bobbin creating emphasis in the radiating quilting lines.

Source of Design:  Original.

Made and Quilted By:  Donna J. Cook.
