"Before and After:In the Middle"

Sandee Milhouse Bloomington, IN

Before and After: In the Middle by Sandee Milhouse

A baby died before me, which meant I came to be. A sister was still-born after me, from which I have never fully recovered. My parents divorced soon afterwards. This quilt and the poem I wrote preceding it, were my ways to work out my pain and to realize what I needed most was to pray and seek my Father in Heaven.

BEFORE AND AFTER: IN THE MIDDLE

Product of a love was three, now there is only me.

Had one not gone before, thrust into Heaven's door, would I be?

After came one as me, formed and wanted much was she, childhood dreams of love and play ended on the April day. Now there is only me.

To Heaven now I must plea, the One I need Who is Three, Healer, Redeemer, Creator, All -

Who will reunite us in His call, then, that day, not only me.

Entry #1008 "Line Dancing" Carol Taylor Pittsford, NY

Line Dancing by Carol Taylor

The Confetti Series of quilts is made by using randomly cut, small pieces of hand-dyed cotton sateen fabric to create a textured surface. The pieces are enhanced by appliquéing a shape, such as a circle or square, in the center of each piece. The artist then creates a composition. Using the small appliquéd pieces in various combinations, the series has evolved into 19 works so far. In this joyful quilt, it appears that the colorful confetti pieces are lining up for a country western line dance. Lines of colors are still topsy-turvy, but working on getting in lines of colors before the music begins.

Summer Wedding by Karen Blocher

This quilt was made in celebration of our son's wedding in July, 2005. There are nearly 3,000 pieces and 300 hours in its completion. I enjoyed every minute of making this quilt for our children. The newlyweds moved recently, and are looking forward to adding this piece to their new home.
