2005 Winners Gallery (Miniature Other)

Miniature Other, First Place

Entry #1112 "Spring" Jane Holihan Walworth, NY

Spring by Jane Holihan   This original design was inspired by antique red and green quilts. It features flowers, birds and butterflies and is hand quilted and hand appliquéd. Trapunto has been added to the quilting designs.

Miniature Other, Second Place

Entry #1101 "La Petit II" Joanie Zeier Poole Sun Prarie, WI

La Petit II by Joanie Zeier Poole   This is the second miniature quilt I have made that was inspired by a woven coverlet made in England , c. 1850, called "Marseille Spread" which imitated French hand quilting. I used my home sewing machine to quilt the designs.

Miniature Other, Third Place

Entry #1111 "Miniature Baskets" Mary Wahle Skokie, IL

Miniature Baskets by Mary Wahle   Machine pieced and quilted with hand applied swags. I found working in miniature much more challenging. Errors are magnified. From Sally Collins' book, Small Scale Quiltmaking.

Miniature Other, Honorable Mention

Entry #1106 "Delightful Garden" Kathy Palmiter Williams, IN

Delightful Garden by Kathy Palmiter   Traditional Grandmother's Flower Garden with embroidery detail on border. English pieced method. Hand quilted with one strand embroidery floss.
